Tony Awards Voting Begins in March, but Still No Date for Show

Tony Awards voting will soon be underway, but a date for the ceremony has yet to be announced.

“Voting for the 74th Annual Tony Awards will take place between March 1 – March 15, 2021. We will present the 74th Annual Tony Awards, which were originally scheduled to take place in 2020, in coordination with the re-opening of Broadway,” Tony Award Productions told Variety in a statement on Friday.

Nominees for the Tony Awards were announced in October 2020, with “Jagged Little Pill,” a reimagining of Alanis Morrisette’s iconic album of the same name, leading the crowd with 15 nominations. The show received nods for best musical, lead actress, featured actor and actress, direction, choreography, orchestration, costume design, sound design and lighting design.

“Moulin Rouge: The Musical” and “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical” were also nominated in the category. For best play, “Grand Horizons,” “The Inheritance,” “Sea Wall: A Life” and “Slave Play” will duke it out.

More to come.
