PS5, Xbox Series X Will Be Available to Purchase in Person for 1st Time Ever This Week

As owners of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, we’ve seen people spending upwards of $1,000 USD to have a console. These have been the hardest systems to come by in the history of gaming, as console and now chip shortages seem like a thing that will be lasting until 2023.

With multiple studios delaying games because of the shortages (see: Grand Theft Auto 6), both systems will be available for the first time ever to purchase. Best Buy is becoming the first storefront to release systems to consumers in person, beginning this September 23rd.

Since their releases last year, both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 have only been available to purchase online and pick-up in person. It’s unclear on how much each store will have, but it would be in your best interest to visit a local store and get details on when you can start lining up.

Essentially, it’s first-come, first-serve, which shockingly, the reseller prices have skyrocketed this week, almost double. Considering Best Buy hasn’t been doing online sales for the last month, there’s a huge possibility that most stores will be packed with consoles.

Here are the inventory screens – cropped & masked to hide anything that could be tied back to my sources. Thank you for letting people know so everyone can plan out their week and…
